Indian Ocean
Indian Ocean is a perfect example of "where there is a will there is a way " . The seeds were sown way back in 1984 when Susmit and Asheem explored the nuances of each other and moved away from the so called normal music - either pop or traditional folk music or classical. Susmit played guitar and Asheem exploited tabla and drums --- hey there was no vocalist!!!. Eventually in 1990 the band was baptised and Indian ocean came into existence. With Shaleen Sharma on drums, they recorded 7 songs in a day. The band got a new member as Rahul joined in 1991 as bass guitarist. In 1992 their first album was released and if records are the measure of anything then the album was the highest selling album by any Indian band ever (till then). Amit replaced Shaleen in 1994 as drummer. The crowd at Mandi House in Delhi went crazy at their performance and they recorded their performance and the second album "Desert Rain"was released .In 2000 their best album (according to me ) was released - Kandisa . The album lifted them from some unknown band to the cult band. Soon they went on to perform abroad. Soon Jhini their next album was released and the latest album Black Friday (ost Black Friday) has tried to capture the tragedy of Mumbai Bomb blast of 1993.
